California is a small town with strong family values, great community spirit, and an award winning school district, career center, and churches of nearly every denomination. At the same time, we are located only 15 minutes from Jefferson City, Missouri’s state capital. and approximately 45 minutes from Columbia.

The City is lucky to have a host of civic and service organizations for people of all ages. Youngsters can participate in scouting, 4-H, FFA, school and church activities. For adults and seniors, there are the California Nutrition Center, Lions Club, Kiwanis, VFW, American Legion, and Chamber of Commerce among many others.

The California R-I School district has an outstanding academic program and a variety of sports programs available.
